NORFOLK, Va. –Yoro Sidibe, a Norfolk State men’s basketball alumnus, has been named the 2023 Male Student-Athlete of the Year by the MEAC. This prestigious award celebrates his achievements in academics, athletics, service, and leadership.
Sidibe is the first Norfolk State Spartan to receive this honor. He has had a remarkable career both on and off the court, exemplifying the NSU standard throughout his collegiate journey.
 In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Sidibe excelled academically, earning honor roll accolades and a 4.0 GPA in Accountancy. He graduated from NSU in May and was awarded the NCAA Ethnic Minority Graduate Scholarship for the 2023-24 academic year.
Coach Robert Jones praised Sidibe for his outstanding contributions to the team and his inspiring efforts in giving back to his home country of Senegal. Sidibe’s dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact on former and current players.
