BATON ROUGE, La. |In a challenging game against No. 14 LSU, the Grambling State University football team started strong offensively but couldn’t contain LSU’s powerful offense, resulting in a 72-10 loss at Tiger Stadium. Baton Rouge native Chance Williams played a crucial role in the early success, accumulating 106 yards on seven carries and consistently putting GSU in favorable field position. Quarterback Myles Crawley completed 14 of 25 passes for 148 yards, including a touchdown and an interception. On the defensive side, Kevin Thomas led GSU with eight tackles.

LSU wasted no time, driving down the field on their opening possession and scoring a 26-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Daniels to Brian Thomas Jr. GSU responded on their first drive, with Antonio Jones making a 34-yard reception to move the Tigers to midfield. Despite a false start penalty, Williams gained a first down at the LSU 29-yard line with a 22-yard run. Crawley then connected with JR Waters for a 13-yard touchdown pass, tying the game 7-7.
LSU quickly answered with a 47-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Chris Hilton, giving LSU a 14-7 lead. GSU didn’t back down and swiftly marched down the field on their next possession. Williams broke free for a 36-yard run, advancing the Tigers into LSU territory at the 43-yard line. A few plays later, Crawley found Jones for a 16-yard completion, setting up GSU with a first and goal at the LSU 8-yard line. However, GSU settled for a 23.
