TUSCALOOSA, Ala- Stillman College women’s volleyball began their Southern States Athletic Conference season with a loss to Loyola University. The Tigers scored 35 points, matching their highest score in a three-set match against the Wolfpack.
Loyola took an early lead in the first set, but Areaonna Manuel and Raine Patterson stopped their runs with kills. Patterson had two kills in the set. In the second set, Stillman briefly led 3-1 before Loyola fought back. Madison Bubel served her first ace of the season, and Patterson had another kill to keep the Tigers within reach.
Despite a strong rally by Stillman, Loyola closed out the set. Patterson led Stillman with seven kills, while Amaya Bazemore and Emma Fahy had seven each for Loyola. Stillman will play their first home weekend match of the season against William Carey University on September 9.
