TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— Stillman College Athletics completed the 2022-2023 academic year with a departmental cumulative GPA of 3.24 while 66% of student-athletes obtained at least honor roll status of a 3.0 grade point average or higher, athletic director Terrance Whittle announced in July.

At the conclusion of the spring semester, 21 Stillman student-athletes earned their bachelor’s degree from Stillman College, accounting for 22% of the graduating class, including several graduating with honors. Ten programs produced graduates in 2022-23.

“Congratulations to all of our student-athletes who have excelled in their pursuit of higher education. It has been really impressive to see the number of student-athletes acknowledged for their stellar work in the classroom. Our student-athletes continue to push the needle academically each year by being better than the previous. Their hard work in the classroom is a reflection on our institution and our departments’ commitment to ensuring that we place a high value on academic competitive success,” Whittle said. “It is our goal that our student-athletes exit Stillman College prepared for the world at large. To all of our college stakeholders, thank you for helping us develop our student-athletes into future leaders.”

Among the 97 honor roll students, 49 obtained a Dean’s List worthy 3.40-3.89 GPA in Spring 2023 and 13 are Presidential Scholars with a 3.90-4.00. During the year, 21 student-athletes had a 4.0 GPA in either the fall or spring semester with four five student-athletes maintaining a 4.0 for the entire 2022-2023 academic year: Emmanuel Kipruto (Men’s Cross Country / Track & Field), McKenzie Kirby (Softball), Brooklyn Pennington (Softball) and Bailie Seales (Softball).
