Microsoft’s Unfulfilled Promises to Black-Owned Media Companies

Urban Edge Network, a proud black-owned media company, had high hopes for Microsoft’s $50 million Black Partner Growth Initiative. However, like many others, we have experienced a disappointing lack of accountability and transparency from corporations claiming to support our community.
Despite Microsoft’s promises to uplift black-owned businesses, there is little evidence that this financial support has reached its intended recipients. The absence of transparency and proof has left us and other companies waiting for accountability, only to be met with silence.
Symbolic gestures are not enough. Corporations must demonstrate their commitment to black-owned businesses by following through on their promises and providing transparency and oversight. Without genuine support and investment, progress for our community is undermined.
