Grambling State Women’s Soccer League Announced 2023 Schedule

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University Women’s Soccer team reveled its 2023 schedule on Monday afternoon. The slate features 10 home dates, as well as a contest against a Power Five opponent.

GSU kicks off the campaign with three games on the road before hosting two regional powers at home at the end of August. The Tigers open at Murray State on Aug.18, before heading across state lines to take on Southeastern Missouri on  Aug. 20. After a short break, GSU will then face East Texas Baptist University on Aug. 22

On Sept. 1, GSU welcomes Louisiana-Lafayette to Grambling for its home opener on Aug. 24. GSU returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 26 for a home date versus regional power Lamar University.

Following their match up with Lamar, GSU heads on the road for their first-ever game against Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opponent Tarleton State University on Sept. 1. On Sept. 3, the Tigers host The University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

GSU travels to College Station, Texas on Sept. 7 to square off against Texas A&M of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

Following its showdown with the Aggies, GSU returns home to play against local rival Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 14. Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play begins the following weekend with the Tigers visiting Texas Southern (Sept. 22) and Prairie View A&M (Sept. 24).

The Tigers return home for two-game weekend home stand versus Alabama State (Sept. 29) and Alabama A&M (Oct. 1).

Grambling State takes a break from SWAC play to take on cross-town foe, Louisiana Tech in an away game on Oct. 4. In the previous meeting between the two programs in 2019, they battled to a 1-1 draw.

Following that contest, GSU crosses state lines to play a pair of conference games in Mississippi. On Oct. 6, the Tigers face Mississippi Valley State. GSU takes on Alcorn State on Oct. 8.

GSU’s final non-conference matchup is set for Oct. 13, when the Tigers host South Carolina State.

Grambling State closes the regular season with a trio of home games versus defending SWAC Champion Jackson State (Oct. 20), Southern (Oct. 22) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Oct. 27).

Grambling State Soccer went 12-8-3 in the 2022 campaign leading the SWAC in most wins, highest margin of victories, most shutouts and most goals against Division 1 opponents. The Tigers have posted an HBCU-best 64-43-11 overall record over the past six years with five trips to the SWAC Championship game.
